Des Moines Art Week: between systems and grounds: the overshot sessions – album release event

between systems and grounds (Olivia Valentine & Paula Matthusen) celebrates the release of its second album the overshot sessions with Carrier Records on June 18th as part of Des Moines Art Week!

between systems and grounds is a performance and installation based durational project involving live-textile making (Olivia Valentine) interwoven with live-electronic improvisation (Paula Matthusen). The sounds of work, space, people, and synthesized tones are driven by the textile construction process and motions, which are then fed back into the process of making the textile through visual and physical means, ultimately resulting in one long, slow feedback loop of physical and audio artifacts.

To welcome this release into the world, we are joined by the extraordinary improvisatory talents of Ritwik Banerji, Warren Enström, and Sam Wells. The event runs continuously from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., people are welcomed to come and go throughout the event.
